In 2025, our Engage and Embed team commenced a series of regional Queensland Roadshows to engage with local member company representatives, increase understanding of our member’s needs, and to raise the profile of Safer Together in the region.
The Roadshow commenced with a full day of sessions in Roma and then travelled east along the highway with a day each in Chinchilla, Dalby and Toowoomba over the course of the week.
With a format that was repeated in each location, the Safer Together team along with member company-representative subject matter experts, delivered sessions on the following important topics:
- Member Onboarding Session
- Frontline Leadership Training Program Information Session
- Common Industry Competencies Specification (CIC) User Workshop
- A Member Engagement Evening
- Heavy Vehicle & Light Vehicle Specification Revisions Vehicle Demo
Each of the sessions was well-supported by members from the region, with 41 different member companies filling 234 seats at the sessions.
A highlight of the Roadshow was Operator Company Senior Leaders attending sessions in each location, sharing their own stories, listening to delegates, asking questions, and most importantly - learning from our industry’s frontline workforce about how contractors and operators can better work together to improve safety for workers in our industry.
Without exception, every one of these Leaders personally committed to take these learnings and use them to inform enhancements (however incremental) to improve safety outcomes for workers on the frontline – in each instance, by either simplifying, standardising or sharing.
We would like to say thank you to the following members for facilitating the following sessions. The Roadshow would not have been the success it was without your contribution:
- Mick Campbell (Shamrock Civil) and Tim Dabrowski (OnSpec DAQ) for presenting the CIC sessions.
- Craig Farrugia (Zinfra), Brendan Lynn (Arrow Energy) and Melissa Day (Arrow Energy) for presenting our Frontline Leadership Training Information Sessions.
For the enormous effort of hosting the on-site Heavy Vehicle and Light Vehicle Specification Information Sessions, an extra-special thank you to:
- Peter Runge and the team at Origin Energy for hosting in Roma.
- Dave Pearce, Mick Shepherd and the team from Shell QGC for hosting in Chinchilla, and
- Travis Kearsley and the team at Arrow Energy for hosting the session in Dalby.
The Member Engagement Evenings in each location were well-attended by member delegates, with robust and open discussion relating to how we can better work together to improve safety, and everything ‘Safer Together’. These events could not have gone ahead without the evening’s sponsor and the Senior Leaders in attendance from the following member companies:
- In Roma, sponsored by Santos - Tom Radzevicius (Santos), Dave Atkin (Origin Energy), Bonnie Coxon (Senex), and host Tony Stapleton (BeneTerra).
- In Chinchilla, sponsored by Morpheus Energy and Shell QGC – Dave Pearce (Shell QGC), Brennan Reid (Morpheus Energy) and host Tony Stapleton (Beneterra).
- In Dalby, sponsored by Monadelphous – Anton Verdel (Arrow Energy) and host Jamie Gabb(Monadelphous).
- In Toowoomba, sponsored by Australia Pacific LNG – Dan Clark (APLNG), Tim Dabrowski (OnSpec DAQ) and host Andy Gainsforth (MPC Kinetic).
