The theme of this year’s National Safe Work Month is “Work Health and Safety Through COVID-19”.  Companies can access resources from Safe Work Australia’s Safe Work Month campaign to assist them in managing their operations within the COVID-19 context.

Safe Work Australia is the national policy agency responsible for WHS and workers’ compensation arrangements throughout Australia.  Since 2009, a national campaign has been released in October to raise awareness of important WHS affecting Australian workplaces.

This year’s theme acknowledges and reflects the wide-reaching impacts of COVID-19 on Australian business, employers and workers, including the Oil and Gas Production and Exploration industry.

Workplaces have had to quickly adapt their practices and procedures to reduce WHS risks arising from COVID-19 and to manage the psychological effects of the pandemic on workers.

Safe Work Month is October, however the impacts of the pandemic will continue to be felt across all industry sectors for some time.  Companies can access resources from the National Safe Work Month campaign here to assist them in managing their operations within the COVID-19 context.  These include:

  • Campaign kits;
  • Information sheets;
  • Case Studies;
  • Posters, and;
  • Webinars

Companies are encouraged to visit the Safe Work Australia site and use the available resources to keep WHS considerations front of mind for their workforces during the continued impacts of the pandemic.

To complement the above, Safer Together continues to support the Australian Oil and Gas E&P Industry by simplifying, standardising and sharing to face the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19.  Our COVID-19 Microsite is mapped to the APPEA COVID-19 Upstream Onshore and Offshore Protocol Framework and contains resources to assist companies in planning and managing their industry-specific response during the coronavirus pandemic.
