With our final Roadshow for 2026, we visited Roma, Chinchilla and for the first time, Gladstone. Our members continue to show up in support of the Roadshow, with a growing number of delegates attending, increased SLG member representation and an increase in the number of member companies represented. Event objectives = met!

Our Roadshows are designed to engage with local member company representatives, to increase understanding of our member’s needs, and to raise the profile of Safer Together in the region.
Across the three locations, the take-away message from all members attending isn't simply that frontline workers need more safety information or tools. They are asking for an industry environment that makes it easier to work safely.
We held the following sessions during our August Roadshow – all delivered by Working Group member representatives:
- ISI Implementation Support Workshop - Worker Competence Working Group
- Health & Wellbeing Implementation Support Workshop - Health Working Group
- Safer Driving: IVMS & AFDD Rev 3 Consultation Workshop (Roma and Chinchilla) - Land Transport Working Group
- Operating Facilities Safely; How do we know we have the fundamentals right? (Gladstone) - Process Safety Working Group
- Member Engagement Evening
If the member-representative feedback collated from all sessions were distilled into six priorities for action, they would be framed as the need for the broader Safer Together membership to collectively remain focussed on:
- Strengthening frontline leadership capability,
- Making psychosocial safety tools practical to use and make these conversations part of everyday leadership,
- Remaining focussed on building a capable and retainable workforce,
- Continuing to work towards removing duplication and unnecessary complexity from frontline work – including in inductions and training certificate validation,
- A targeted, responsive attention to the following frontline risks — psychosocial, musculoskeletal disorders and land transport activities, and
- A continued focus on developing a deeper understanding of the root causes of high-potential incidents.
Feedback from roadshow delegates consistently identifies the need for increased leadership capability and competence (with a particular focus on frontline leaders), simpler systems and supports that integrate into the reality of day-to-day frontline operations — not additional procedures and forms to complete.
It is great to see member attendance continuing to grow in attendance for Roadshow sessions – the numbers don’t lie. For the August 2026 Roadshow:
- 12 face-to-face sessions held, 4 in each location (Roma, Chinchilla, Gladstone)
- 280 attendee spots filled (Roma – 82; Chinchilla – 126; Gladstone – 72)
- 36 companies participated and actively engaged (Roma – 15; Chinchilla – 20; Gladstone – 13)
- 10 member companies provided representatives to facilitate the sessions (ensuring peer-to-peer conversation)
- 10 SLG members participated (and 4 more sent along a senior line leader delegate)
- Long list of practical input, suggestions and feedback obtained from field-based frontline managers, supervisors and support coordinators.
We now know our members value the Regional Roadshow:
- You like the cadence of visits and have now come to expect it.
- Presentations met the brief.
- Gladstone inclusion in the roadshow was well-received and supported by our members in this region.
In no particular order, we would like to thank the following Working Group SMEs for presenting during the Roadshow:
- Glenn Ross (INPEX)
- Paul Whyte (Nacap)
- Tracey Fields (Arrow Energy)
- Dennis Murphy (Shell)
- Robin Grundon (Spectra)
- Nikola Ballinger (Monadelphous)
- Dale Whiting (ConocoPhillips)
Feedback from the Roadshow sessions has been provided to the relevant Working Groups, with follow-up actions to be communicated to attending session delegates in the near future.
We would like to thank the following member companies for their sponsorship, Santos, Shell QGC, APLNG, MPC Kinetic, and OnSpec DAQ.
