On 19th August more than 500 people from around Australia and overseas participated in Safer Together's first ever Virtual Industry Safety Forum event. Held by webinar, this was also the first forum jointly hosted by the Qld and WA/NT Chapters of Safer Together.  Click here to watch the event vodcast.

The objectives of the event were to:

  • Connect people
  • Engage member companies
  • Introduce Safer Together to member workforce. Outline past and current initiatives
  • Share ideas, solutions and best practice to maintain safety as we move through, and beyond, the current challenges.
  • Explain how Safer Together will help

As if in synchronicity with the year that 2020 has been, there were some connection challenges initially.  However, these were quickly overcome by a nimble, agile and solution-focused team who proceeded to deliver a highly engaging event. Our MC James O’Loughlin seamlessly facilitated what will be remembered by all as an outstanding conversation.

The event was broadcast from studios in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney.  Participants heard first-hand from our keynote speakers about the current situation in our industry and the impact on safety performance. They also heard from Panel members in Brisbane and Perth who shared their lessons from previous downturns and answered questions posed by participants.  Panelists and participants alike provided their thoughts on areas of focus needed to maintain safety.  This will provide valuable input into the 2021-2023 Strategic Safety Plan for Safer Together.
