As psychosocial health becomes an increasing focus for everyone in our industry, managing our physical and mental wellbeing, and the hazards associated with our work environment is essential to keeping us safe in the short and longer terms – and the focus of our Q4 Theme: ‘Wellbeing and Work Environment’.
Managing our ever-changing physical and mental wellbeing, and the hazards associated with our work environment is essential to keeping us safe in the short and longer term. Taking care of our changing physical and mental wellbeing, as well as managing the risks in our work environment, is key to staying safe - today and into the future.
Follow the link to our Quarterly Theme homepage; here you’ll find links to the products, programs and tools we available related to this topic. Resources included in this section will help you:
- Improve understanding of physical and mental wellbeing,
- Increase awareness of occupational health impacts (including fatigue), and
- Improve communication and better understand your colleagues.
Also supporting our Q4 theme, is our Fatigue Risk Management Portal. This is the place where HSERs can find tools, resources and education materials applicable for fatigue risk management and mitigation for workers in the Australian Energy Production Industry.
Look around the Fatigue Risk Management page. You’ll find a lot of great material here, including:
Fatigue Risk Management Guidance
A Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) is now recommended to facilitate the systematic identification of workplace hazards relating to fatigue and define and guide organisations to evaluate, manage and mitigate fatigue-related risks.
To support effective implementation of fatigue management in the workplace our Health Working Group has collated information and data from member companies, key industry and government bodies and prepared a Fatigue Risk Management Guidance, a summary evaluation and comparison of available guidance material, including best practice.
This document should be considered as guidance only, and an effort to reduce the impact on companies to undertake a review and analysis of available material and provide recommended materials and references based on company requirements, location, and work environment.
Individual Fatigue Risk Assessment Tool
This tool determines an individual's Fatigue Risk score and proposes actions / mitigations appropriate to the risk level.
This tool enables a worker to self-assess their fatigue and can be used to assess fatigue risk in the following scenarios:
- Start of Shift
- Extended Shifts/Rosters
- Shift Changes
- Excessive Night Shifts
- Call Outs: For unexpected work calls
- Journey Management
- Self-Reported Symptoms
- Post-Incident
- Observed Symptoms
