The launch of our new On-Site Accommodation Health and Safety Guideline was promoted by a ‘Lunch & Learn’ information session held in Brisbane, presented by Melissa Day (Principal Advisor – Safety Improvement, Arrow Energy Pty Ltd).

Development of the Guideline was a combined Qld. and WA/NT Health Working Group initiative, led by Melissa Day and Lauren Baggoley (Santos), and involved member companies and external stakeholders throughout the development of the guideline.

The Health Working Group was delighted to see the event so well-supported in the room by those attending face-to-face, with an additional 40+ member company delegates attending virtually.

The Guideline aims to safeguard and enhance residents’ safety by supporting the identification and management of psychosocial risks in accommodation, and uses a risk control framework describing the process to be followed.

The Guideline is applicable both onshore and offshore accommodation facilities.

Members encouraged to use the Guideline include operators or owners or residents of accommodation facilities, and organisations with employees or contractors who reside within an on-site facility, as a reference to:

  • Ensure the psychological safety and health of all people residing in accommodation facilities.
  • Determine the standard of facilities required, based on psychosocial safety risk.
  • Prequalify facilities to accept employees as residents.
