At their March Incident Review Panel, our Land Transport Working Group focussed on increasing risk-awareness from legacy land transport trailer-related incidents, by exploring the lessons learned and sharing them - with the aim of reducing repeat incidents, via the theme 'Dropped Trailer Loads'.

Peter Runge (Origin Energy) welcomed delegates to the event, before handing over to Graeme Cooper (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator) for his presentation on the NHVR Master Code 2026 update.

A number of Incident Reviews Followed:

  • Farm Trailer LV Trailer Incident Travis Kearsley (Arrow Energy)
  • Loss of Load – LV Trailer Incident Luke Chapman (Toll Group) & Scott Winter (Origin Energy)
  • Dropped Trailer – HV Trailer Incident Robert Schmidt (Wild Desert)
  • Ring Fedder – Trailer Incident Warwick Brown (Energistics)

Following a short break, Dave Pearce (Shell) presented Current Industry Statistics on Trailer Use and a Survey Results Deep Dive – on Light Trailer Use in the Australian Onshore Energy Production Industry.

The Working Group also looked to our members to determine interest in development of an addendum to the Light Vehicle Specification pertaining to the use of light trailers supporting the Onshore Energy Production Industry, by providing an opportunity for industry to align on light trailer minimum specifications, training and maintenance requirements – in time to consider the survey results at the event.  Dave Pearce (Shell) led the conversation, with alignment amongst delegates in the room to consider the addition in principle.

Following a Working Group update (including AFDD and IVMS updates) from Peter, delegates retired to a networking function.
