As the hot season approaches, and with thanks to all members who provided feedback, now is the time to deploy our updated and improved Management of Heat Stress Guideline.  In addition, having been reviewed by our WA/NT Health Working Group to ensure it meets all regulations in their jurisdiction, the updated Guideline is now endorsed for immediate deployment Australia-wide.

Our Management of Heat Stress Guideline is designed to increase heat stress awareness and provide guidance on an approach to implement heat mitigation measures that should be put in place to manage the risks to personnel exposed to heat, with the Guideline specifically written for the frontline workforce in mind.

Now approved for deployment Australia-wide, the Management of Heat Stress Guideline promotes an effective and consistent approach across our industry to preventing and mitigating heat stress for the entire operator, contractor and sub-contracting workforce.

Following feedback from member companies, key improvements to the original Guideline have been made, and now include the addition of:

  • Controls listed (now taking into consideration the Hierarchy of Controls),
  • Inclusion of updated heat acclimatisation steps,
  • Inclusion of heat stress symptoms, and
  • The initial actions required for mitigating heat stress.

Updated materials are available on our website to support the immediate deployment of the Guideline, and include:

Our Heat Stress e-Learn tool is currently being updated in line with the latest Guideline.

The e-Learn tool will shortly be available for all members to distribute within their company for immediate deployment, and will also be available for our members to download and embed into your company’s Learning Management System (LMS).
