Members gathered in Brisbane for this third Land Transport Incident Review Panel (LTIRP) for 2024.

Opened by Dave Pearce (Shell) recognising Queensland Road Safety Week and reminding delegates of this safety message:

  • Everyone needs to work together to make our roads safer.
  • No matter how good we think we are at using roads, we can always get better at it.
  • Let’s work together to keep our streets safe.
  • Let’s drive down the number of lives impacted by crashes on our roads each year.

An incident presentation followed regarding a Load Secure Event in which after refuelling, a HVO was completing a walkaround when they discovered that the stainless-steel cabinet had detached from the skid frame and a vent cover was missing from the asset.  Dave facilitated questions from the room in Brisbane and those received form the online audience.

Following a short break,  Jason Kerr (QUBE Energy) and Mick Shepherd (QGC Shell) presenting remotely from Chinchilla, showed delegates through Safer Together’s resources regarding Load Safe/Chain of Responsibility materials.

Jason and Mick then followed with their innovation presentation, How to Reduce the Risk of Pedestrian and Forklift Interaction – going over their allocated time with great questions from the audience.

Following a brief Land Transport Working Group update from Adam Fitz-Henry (Qteq) in which he let everyone know about the next LTIRP in December ‘Wellbeing and Work Environment’, and updated delegates on the Heavy Vehicle and Light Vehicle Specifications, the In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems (IVMS) SpecificationReview (Rev 3) that is underway, and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Master Code Audits Preliminary, with plan and team setting underway.

Adam closed the event by encouraging the audience to Get Involved by joining the Land Transport Working Group before retiring to a networking function for Brisbane audience.

Thank you to event sponsor Shell for their contribution to the success of the event.
