Our first Marine Forum for 2024 in Perth saw the Dexus auditorium full of 65 marine industry representatives - it was fantastic to see familiar and new faces attending.

Event sponsors MMA Offshore and Chevron were both ably represented by our hosts, Harbinder Mann(Marine Manager Deputy DPA/CSO, MMA Offshore) and Dev Paranjape (Marine OE Process Advisor, Chevron).  Harbinder welcoming delegates before handing over to Stuart Edgar (Executive General Manager Vessel Services, MMA Offshore) for a presentation on the Safer Together 2024-2026 Strategic Plan.

An incident share presented by Aaron Barbetti (Marine Manager, Siem Offshore) and Thomas Abraham(Marine Operations Superintendent, Woodside) reminded us of the importance to stop, think and re-assess the risks when needed.

Sarah Cerche (Director Workplace Relations Governance and Policy, Maritime Industry Australia Ltd), Emily Whittaker (Offshore Crew & Recruitment Coordinator, MMA Offshore) and Emily Lippiatt (Lead Crewing Advisor, GO Offshore) delivered thought provoking presentations that generated much discussion about the challenges and opportunities that marine industry is facing right now, and into the near future; and how organisations collaborate to address and overcome to meet industry demands.

Graham Coles (Offshore Advisor, OCIMF) joined us remotely to introduce our newest Collaboration Partner OCIMF, and spoke about OCIMF's focus programs and key publications.

Representatives of the Marine Working Group then shared information current marine initiatives being supported by the Group.

Dawn Banner (Principal Consultant, Safer Together) joined the stage to present on Assist & Assure - a program focuses on providing the skills to create a safe environment for open, engaging safety conversations meant to 'Assist' employees and contractors to work more safely, and the benefits of application of the program to the wider industry.

The final presentation from Harbinder was an industry update regarding Marine Order 55 “Vessels Carrying Industrial Personnel” – and what these changes (coming into effect in July 2024) mean for our members.

Dev returned to wrap up the event, thanking delegates for their attendance.

Thanks to our event sponsors, MMA Offshore and Chevron for their contribution to the success of this event.
