Rural Road Safety Month 2026

The Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) officially launched Rural Road Safety Month in 2019.

August marks a renewed focus on road safety in rural areas.

The Surat Basin, where we operate, is classed as an outer regional area which has a fatality rate more than 2.5 times higher (than other areas of driving in Australia) at 12.4 (vs 4.72) per 100,000 population.

Shell has developed and shared these 4 slide packs, and made them available for our members to disseminate and present each week.

Each pack covers 1 of 4 topics:

• 1 topic to be presented each week / one slide pack per week.
• Each slide pack is marked 'Week 1'; 'Week 2' etc.
• Presenters to present the slides in Presentation Mode.
• Presenters to familiarize themselves with the facilitator notes (in the presentation) to ensure a uniform narrative.
• A video discussion is included to enhance engagement.
• Click anywhere on the slide to start playing the video.
• The video will automatically play in full screen and return to its original size once playback is completed.
