The first leadership role for any worker after being part of a work crew is the biggest step in any leadership journey, and one that will have a real impact on safety. To help set the emerging leader on course for success, the Safer Together Frontline Leadership Training program has been created to provide the new leader with the skills and knowledge required to transition effectively into their new role.
Our Frontline Leadership Training program has been created to provide new frontline leaders in our industry with the skills and knowledge required to transition effectively into their new role.
Designed and built by industry for industry, this highly interactive and engaging 2-day program will help participants build the leadership skills and behaviours consistent with the Safer Together Safety Culture Framework and develop into effective, proactive supervisors who can ensure strong safety outcomes.
The program focuses on leadership behaviours designed to give emerging leaders a deeper understanding of how to ‘show up’ as a safety leader for their team and understand how it is that they want to be perceived as a safety leader.
Suitable for both Operating and Contracting member company participants, the feedback has been consistently positive:
“It taught me more about the systems I can use to communicate effectively instead of relying on raw instinct”
“I found most useful the well-facilitated conversations. The excellent depth of experience from the facilitator that was shared in an insightful manner. The focus was on the discussions and not just running through slides.”
Who should attend?
This course is intended for new-to-the-role field-based leaders responsible for frontline operational activities, who are commencing their first leadership role and (ideally) have no more than 3-5 years’ leadership experience.
Participants will typically be working each day in hi-vis workwear away from their company’s main offices, and often in remote locations.
What will participants get out of the program?
By the end of the program, participants will:
- Understand what is required of a frontline leader in the Australian Energy Production Industry and how different this is from being an individual contributor,
- Have the basic skills necessary to start their leadership journey, and
- Have developed their own Leadership Action Plan to be implemented at their workplace.
Members can request a bespoke course at their workplace (subject to minimum numbers).
