In early June our Land Transport Working Group gathered in Brisbane for their Incident Review Panel, themed ‘Preventing Personal Injuries’.
With a fantastic turn up in-person and online for the Incident Review Panel, Adam Fitz-Henry (Qteq) welcomed presenters and delegates in the room and those attending virtually to the event before handing over to David Woolard (Santos) for his presentation on IVMS Performance.
Blair Tyne (Santos) presented a packing incident regarding a truck carrying a mixed load of freight– which generated many questions and discussions in the room before handing over to David again, who presented a preliminary project plan on the proposed adoption of the Packaging, Handling & Movement of Materials Specification in Qld.
Developed by the Land Logistics Working Group in WA/NT, the Specification offers a potential industry-wide Packaging Specification that companies can refer to and implement, promoting packaging and standardisation across all members- directly linking into load restraint compliance. The Specification aims to fill gaps in the NTC Guidance that cause incidents and near misses, thus simplifying requirements to further reduce non-conformances.
After a short break, Robert Schmidt (Wild Desert) presented a very comprehensive heavy vehicle incident review – again generating questions and discussion from the floor.
Adam and Peter Runge (Origin) then presented an update on everything Land Transport Working Group:
- Light Vehicle Specification and Heavy Vehicle Specification review updates
- IVMS Specification Review (Rev 3.0)
- Packaging, Handling & Movement of Materials Specification adoption in Qld.
- National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Master Code Audits – Planning and Sharing of Outputs.
Peter kept to the lectern, encouraging everyone in the audience to get involved in the Land Transport Working Group, before closing out the event and directing everyone to a post-event networking session.
Thank you to sponsor Santos, for their contribution to the success of this event.
