Distraction plays a significant role in Australian Road Safety, contributing to about one in six serious crashes and substantially increasing collision risk. Distraction is one of the fatal five factors in road safety and it was our focus for National Road Safety Week in 2026. It’s time to stop being distracted. It’s time to start being present. Let’s drive to survive.
National Road Safety Week (NRSW) is an annual initiative from the SARAH Group, partnering road safety organisations and Government. The week highlights the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it.
Safer Together designed a Toolbox referencing our NRSW 2026 Theme 'Driven to Distraction', to engage in a conversation about road safety with your team during this time, and we were thrilled so many members downloaded the Toolbox for deployment with their teams.

The Toolbox and supporting materials remain on the Safer Together website for download throughout the year.
What do we want you to do with the NRSW 2026 Toolbox?
- Forward the Toolbox to your frontline leaders,
- Use the Run Sheet to prepare the Toolbox,
- Deliver the Toolbox (which includes the short video),
- Discuss the reflective questions at your safety meetings, and
- Send your feedback and suggestions to [email protected]
Take a fresh look at all the initiatives on the Safer Together Land Transport/Logistics Working Groups have developed for our industry in recognition of the fact that driving is one of our highest safety risks.
