The Safer Together Board is pleased to announce that, on 25 June, Lorna McGinnis was appointed to the Board and was delegated responsibilities to serve as our Independent Chair.
As part of her role, Lorna will attend upcoming Safer Together meetings and events, to get to know our members and understand how we are delivering Our Commitment to prevent harm to frontline workers by simplifying, standardising and sharing. We invite all members to introduce themselves to Lorna at future Safer Together meetings or events, as this will help Lorna to familiarise herself with her new role at Safer Together.
Context:
In July 2025, Safer Together members approved a plan to become One Safer Together. A key part of this plan was to form one Board to govern Safer Together on behalf of our members.
That October, we established one Board. Consistent with our regional structure, the Board has positions for 2 representatives of the Qld chapter and 2 WA/NT representatives. Our central guiding principle is - we are Operators and Contractors working together, as peers. As such, each Chapter is represented by an Operator and a Contractor member. A position was created for the Executive Director to join the Board. A position was also created for an independent person to join the Board, with the intention that this person serve as Chair.
About Lorna:
Lorna brings over 20 years’ experience providing independent facilitation and strategic guidance to Not-for-Profits. Lorna’s tertiary qualifications and career have centred on stakeholder relations, governance and compliance, including almost a decade in the energy production industry delivering the GLNG EIS, and QCLNG Construction - managing social impact as a member of the Project Management Team. Through her own consultancy Lorna enables clients across industry and human service sectors in effective strategic planning and business improvement. She holds a Certificate in Governance for Not-for-Profits through the Governance Institute of Australia.
Lorna was appointed to the Safer Together Board as an Independent Director, and was delegated Chair responsibilities, in June 2026.
On behalf of all Safer Together members, we welcome Lorna to the Board, and offer congratulations on her appointment.
