On 7 November Origin Energy hosted the 3rd Safer Together Process Safety Incident Review Workshop. Aimed at front-line staff including operators and maintenance workers, as well as engineers and others interested in process safety, the event gathered over 60 representatives at the Binda Nalkana Regional Training Centre in Condabri.

The event was kicked off by Maia Schweizer, General Manager - Integrated Gas Operations from Origin Energy and Wendy King, President Australia – East, ConocoPhillips and Champion of the Process Safety Working Group, who welcomed the participants on behalf of Origin Energy and Safer Together.

The program included incident review presentations by Origin Energy, QGC and Santos as well as demonstration of the mobile major accident hazard awareness training Contain It! where participants could witness controlled live fire demonstrations of loss of containment delivered by qualified and experienced instructors from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

Incident review presentations focused on compressor overpressure investigation; gas and water release; and loss of containment, and sparked lively discussions and lots of questions by the participants.

The idea of organising learning and sharing events in the field was met with enthusiasm and was welcomed by the participants:

“Great sharing at IRP session. Relatable, difficult yet understandable problems discussed. Highlighted that if we learn and share together we can get on top of these things”;

“Contain It! was excellent – good guys and coverage”;

“Felt brilliant – must do again” reflected those who attended.

There will be more sharing events held by Safer Together in 2018. If you would like to present at the next Process Safety Incident Review Workshop or would like to provide your feedback / suggestion, contact the Working Group at [email protected] .Materials presented at the workshop can be accessed here.
