At the recent Industry Safety Forum, delegates participated in an activity to build 50 prosthetic hands that will be donated to landmine victims in the developing world.  At the same time, each delegate was given a powerful reminder about the importance of hand safety in our industry.

The activity is part of the Helping Hands – Hand and Finger Preservation Program.  This Program was developed in a unique partnership between Safer Together and Helping Hands.  The activity allowed delegates to experience losing the use of their hand, and the impact that this would have on their work and on doing the things that they love outside of work. It served as a powerful, visceral reminder of why it is important to protect our hands and fingers while we work.

Feedback from delegates about the activity was overwhelmingly positive.  Many remarked that it was the highlight of the day.
