Safer Together collects, collates, analyses and reports safety performance data on behalf of the Australian Energy Production Industry.  Frontline workers have told us that they want to see this data.

Operator companies provide data about events from their operations, including contractor events. This data represents the majority of exposure hours and related events across the Australian Energy Production Industry.

Each quarter, Kevin Geddert “the Data Guy” analyses the data and provides a report to Safer Together.  Twice a year we share the data with the frontline.  We also share Kevin’s analysis, and key insights arising from discussion of the data among our Industry’s executive leaders and HSE advisors.

The key messages for the first half of 2026 are:

  • There were no Fatalities or Permanent Impairments
  • The rate of High Potential Events continues to increase.  These Events did not result in a fatality, but they could have.
  • We had 3 Serious Motor Vehicle Incidents. This is concerning because these incidents relate to a material risk in the onshore part of our Industry.
  • There were 8 Process Safety Events (3 x Tier 1; 5 x Tier 2).  This trend appears to be increasing.
  • 115 people were injured across the industry, 17 lost work time due to the injury and there were 41 hand injuries in the period.
